It was that minimalist appearance that I found, and still find, rather appealing. I don't recall the sales-promotion involving the watches being part of any marketing programme here in Europe and I'm prepared to bet that once the batteries expired, the watches were simply popped into a drawer and eventually thrown away. In 30 years of looking I've yet to see one - but you never know... If you wear it today, at first glance it would easily pass for a smartwatch, until the moment you turn it on.

Another watch from 1996: For anyone interested, the watch is still available on Ebay and located in Germany (I am not the seller nor have any relation with the seller).

This superb pack of playing cards arrived today alongside an Electro 35 Professional camera; indeed, it was a promotional tool for the Electro 35 which was introduced in 1966. Yashica Electro 35 playing cardsHoused in a textured, black plastic case with raised silver lettering proclaiming the camera, the cards show Shiga on the reverse in a hot-air balloon. What I really love is the image in the roundel - it looks like it could have been lifted straight out of the Beatles' animated film ' Yellow Submarine'. Definitely shades of that 1967 Summer of Love for those of us that remember it! People are asking stupid money for a pack of Yashica playing cards here in Europe; thankfully the Japanese are more sanguine and the pack only cost £6. And praise is due to FedEx: I bought the cards and the camera on Sunday evening, they were shipped from Tokyo on Monday using their standard service and arrived here in the UK today, Wednesday morning, despite all the travails of the logistics industry. Most impressive and it didn't cost the earth...

I'm assuming that Contax dealers had an obsession with keys as I found these two Contax-branded items that I imagine were dealer incentives/promotions. Contax Leather Key WalletContax Key-ChainUntil I saw them recently, I had no idea either item existed. The leather key wallet is really well made and is presented in a Contax black case. I hope to find something similar with Yashica branding...

This Contax ceramic ball-point pen in a presentation case popped onto the radar and has made its way to the UK. Contax Ceramic penI have not seen this one before. Given the price tag with a Contax code on the outer box, this appears to have been a piece of saleable merchandise rather than a dealer promotion. Whatever its provenance, it writes beautifully; thankfully, it had been sealed in its box which is presumably why its ink has not dried..

I think this interesting Yashica-branded tie-clip may have been a dealer reward; most respectable shop-keepers wore a tie back in the 60s and 70s. Yashica Electro Tie-clipI love the use of the 'Electro Conquers All' motto; I wonder who or what John Roberts USA was/still is? On the reverse of the clip is the Yashica name and a translation of the motto into English. I thought it only right to place it on a Contax/Yashica tie...

I wonder what it was about Contax and keys? I've found yet another key accessory - a very large, leather key ring. Contax Leather Key RingI've placed the AA battery next to it to give you an understanding of its size; as you can see, it's substantial. It's made all the more impressive by being made from saddle-leather and it looks hand-stitched On the reverse is a large cut-out for a name and address label. I assume it was aimed at dealers.

I'd totally forgotten about this until seeing the Contax clip posted by biggles3 ... I assume it was a dealer incentive or reward, somewhere during or after the Electro 35 gold G model came out. I just missed an Electro G presentation counter pad in black velvet cloth, but still glad that this was available.

I found this Yashica lighter at the bottom of a drawer and I'm embarrassed to admit that I have no recollection as to how it came into my possession. I suspect it was from attending a trade show or perhaps the launch of Yashica's new AF range about 3 decades ago... Yashica lighter

This tiny Contax/Zeiss lapel badge dates from 1976 and was given in small numbers to the UK distributor, Photax to be worn by its staff at trade shows. 1976 Contax Zeiss Lapel BadgeI don't recall why they gave me one but it's so tiny, I very nearly threw it away when emptying a storage box as it was tucked inside some bubble-wrap. A narrow squeak!

5 years ago I uploaded a photo of the original Yashica 'bullet' lens brush to this section. Today, I have finally been able to track down the 'fountain pen' version of Yashica's brush. Yashica Lens Brush Type 2I don't know if these were promotional offers or dealer incentives but they sport natural hairs of incredible softness and refinement; this would not have been cheap to produce. It comes apart just like a fountain pen and a slider allows you to extend or retract the brush. Here, the cap shows the 1960's style of Yashica logo and on its reverse side is a clip to allow this to be attached to a pocket. The metal casing has a colour which sits somewhere between brass and copper. It's a very nicely made item and will travel with me in future.

Here we have a Yashica Tie-pin from the 1960s by the look of the logo. Yashica Tie-pin 1960sI assume it was intended to be worn by Yashica representatives at trade or consumer photographic shows. I can't find any evidence that they were available to the public - unless someone here knows differently....

Just came across and ordered this hat from a German seller on eBay. I have no idea what it was for or where it came from. Hopefully I'll find out more when it arrives!

Hello ArielThat RTSIII pin is a very nice find; congratulations. It appears to have been made independently of Kyocera/Contax by a company in Germany; do you know the manufacturer?
