One of the strangest novelty items I've seen... A black plastic Contax / Yashica cocktail ice bucket, that's shaped, and with the matching graphics, to look similar to a short tele lens. It has markings for both a Yashica ML 135mm C f/2.8, and a (Contax RTS) Zeiss Sonnar f/2.8 135mm. How's that for an oddball pairing in and of itself? For sale on ebay for $65 USD: www.ebay.com/itm/114510927506

Are you going to have a punt Graham? The day I think it perfectly reasonable to spend nearly £100 on a second-hand ice-bucket, you have my permission to ' terminate me with extreme prejudice'!

This pair of Yashica cuff-links has arrived today: Yashica cuff-linksThey are rather nicely crafted and by the look of the font they're from the mid-1970s. I like the polished effect of the raised, highly-polished letters against the dull textured background. I particularly appreciate the large letter Y protruding from the incised larger Y, it being offset to remain perfectly centred. They have quite a weight to them; the metal reminds me of the chrome vanadium used for heavy-duty karabiners back in the 1960s or possibly palladium. I assume they were a dealer reward or promotion. They were bought from a jeweller here in the UK.

Ariel... you just reminded me. It's not a whole deck, but it's been years since I've played cards anyway.

This tiny, Yashica-branded, ladies analogue watch made by Olympia arrived today. Yashica ladies analogue watchIt is in need of cleaning and adjustment but is ticking nicely so there's hope for it. I have no idea as to whether it was a dealer incentive, sale promotion item, or employee reward; by the look of the logo, it could have come from the 1970s through to the 1990s. The choice of a conventional rather than electronic mechanism is interesting as all the other Yashica or Contax branded watches I've seen have all been quartz-controlled which was in keeping with Yashica's reputation for producing the electronic timing mechanisms found in most of their cameras from 1975 onwards. I would therefore guess that the watch came from the pre-Contax RTS/Yashica FR era. The one Yashica watch I would love to have owned was the 1975 YASHICA FR1-Time LED. It would still look pretty cool today but I haven't seen one in over 30 years.

Looks very sleek and uncluttered for 1975. It was that minimalist appearance that I found, and still find, rather appealing. I don't recall the sales-promotion involving the watches being part of any marketing programme here in Europe and I'm prepared to bet that once the batteries expired, the watches were simply popped into a drawer and eventually thrown away. In 30 years of looking I've yet to see one - but you never know...

That’s rather smart, I’d buy one and wear it for sure.
