Mike you have any tips&tricks on how to clean them up? I've been using the wipes that are made for LCD/LED screens for general grunge cleaning, they are non-abrasive and use gentle cleaners that won't damage the surfaces, and toothpaste for stubborn spots. Vinegar will remove tarnish from brass. Mostly just a lot of elbow grease, though.

Congratulations! The FX-D is one of my favorites, a true low-profile camera--inconspicuous, very light and small for an SLR, yet sturdy and reliable. Just needs two cheap alcaline LR44s for the meter. Amongst the cheapest and most underrated SLRs on the second-hand market. The ML 2/50 ought to be a keeper too. Michael I was thinking about you when I bid on it, Michael. Was pretty sure I'd read some praise of the FX-D of yours. That, and it's relation to the Contax 139 Quartz. I bought it off a charity site, so who knows what kind of condition it will be in. It was in an ERC for the photos, so was hard to tell if the coverings had deteriorated yet. I still haven't gotten around to counting up all the little Yashies, as I've been busy setting up a new computer. Doing that once every ten years is enough for me. PF I've had a couple of FX-D cameras, one chrome and one black. It was the black one that I found at a garage sale (with three lenses!) for two dollars several years ago that got me back into film photography after a lengthy hiatus. Being completely battery-dependent, chances are quite good that you can find a "jammed" one at a bargain price that can be fixed simply by installing new batteries. Expect the shredded leatherette, though, as I have only ever bought one Yashica or Contax SLR with with the soft leatherette intact. The original covering has a quite luxurious feel, but it certainly was not designed to last. They are lovely compact SLRs that don't get the respect that they deserve.

It came in yesterday, and after a couple of batteries, it fired right up. Well, after I figured out how to work the metering system. Got to read the manual on this one. I'll have to re-do the coverings before anything else happens with it. Too bad they didn't use the same stuff as on the FX-3 Super 2000. Oh, and the FX winder came in too. PF

I gave my TL Super a couple of firm whacks on the bottom, and now the shutter is firing at all speeds. Sometimes, all that they need is a little spanking.

I have a couple SLRs and some TLRs:
TL-Electro (bought new in 1976) TL-E
...with some lenses, the 50/1.9 Auto Yashinon, the 135/2.8 Yashinon DX and the massive Yashinon 75-230/4.5
I also use a M42 Chinon 35/2.8 and a 20/3.8 Kiron on these bodies.
TLRs are:
D E (Yes, the dreaded E and it works perfectly!) Mat 124G (my primary MF workhorse) 44A
I also gave my 25-year-old daughter a Yashica A that she uses from time to time.
Cheers, Allan

Hi Stefan, welcome! Nice to see a fellow countryman join the forum. Yours is an impressive list indeed! Are there any other especially outstanding lenses (except the 2.8/55 macro) that you would want to recommend? Michael (with best regards from KA to MA, where I studied and worked for quite a while...

Hi Michael, thanks for your welcome. What a small world, I studied in KA! I can recommend the ML 2,8/24mm, ML 2,0/50mm, ML 1,2/55mm (but quite rare and expensive), ML 3,5/100mm Macro. And also some Zooms: ML Zoom 3,5/28-50mm, ML Zoom 3,5-4,5/28-85mm, ML Zoom 80-200mm (I was very impressed a few months ago in Brugge), ML Zoom 5,6/100-300mm. Greetings to KA Stefan Attachments:

I have to update the list... not shown here are the Y16 Tangerine, Electro Half transistor, 3 different Yashica Snap, and still searching for the M-3 (not Leica or MIII)... www.ricardwill.be/jv-foto/YASHICA/index.htmlI limitted myself to rangefinders, point and shoot. Recently addes some 6x6. I try not to look at slr's or film camera's because the Rangefinders are already running out of hand. Most of them are working, a few project going on (the half 14 is disassembled now) never ending work in progress
