A double pleasure today...
Thank you to a member of this Forum for the Contax mouse mat-calculator combo which makes a nice way to present the occasional item. And the postman also delivered this infamous Contax 'Titanium brick' otherwise known as the TVS-Digital; it is the nicest one I've seen in a long time and fortunately for me was a swap for a Fuji 6x8 lens.
Favourite Titanium brick..
I wish I could explain my love for this camera as it can be infuriating if you are in a hurry. It takes an eternity to start up. But it's minimalist design and clean shape is pleasing on the eye and, most importantly, that Zeiss zoom delivers beautiful photos. Get one while you still can - even at a mere 5MP, it's worth it.

What a rare finding and nice gift, in mint condition. The camera for sure looks great and with a lot of controls for a compact, doing a short research over the net I've noticed mixed feeling about it, no grey area, there are those who absolutely and unconditionally love it or directly hate it. I wonder if there is a hacked version of the firmware available for it, to unlock features like shooting RAW, something similar to the CHDK for Canon, I have a 7MP PowerShot and with that firmware I get completely different end results by having the RAW file to process, among many other features and extras (Tetris included )

OK - I know I had a couple of these beauties but I simply could not resist when a third one popped into view...
3 titanium treats
There's something about the feel of that titanium and sapphire combination which is so refined - and the colour rendition in their photos is quite superb.
And then to top it all, it came with a copy of the Contax Raw Data Developer Program and Manual version 2.0...

Time to go 'old school'...
Tucked away in yet another old box is this Soviet-era photographic workhorse - the Zorki C. This for some reason never made it into my inventory but it seems to be working a treat and that lens is surprisingly good under average lighting conditions.
Zorki C
I need to have a hunt for some more compatible lenses - I suspect there may be a few more items tucked away that missed the inventory...
And I was not wrong...a second camera with an unusual lens...

Thankfully bulk film is still available which helps to ensure that these labour-saving devices remain relevant today. They were the 1980's equivalent of a 64GB SDHC card...
RTS Fundus OM-2N
I use a Contax bulk-loader for both systems as the large film cassettes, capable of holding 250 frames of 35mm film, are fully interchangeable. This is useful to know because the asking price for Contax cassettes is usually at least double that of the Olympus ones. No need for brand loyalty when hard-earned cash is at stake!
One important recommendation: use a very wide and/or padded strap if you are using a bulk-back outside a studio as the combination of the back, film, camera, motor-drive, power pack with 12 AA batteries plus a lens gets to your neck after a while as I well remember from shooting gymnastics back in the late 70s through to the mid-1980s.

Hi folks,
I've been looking for a mint condition 300 ML C and a nice, fully working RTSII for a while now and finally got these for a sensible price.
ML 300 C RTS2
I seriously love the 300mm and after the receipt of the Pentacon 300 f4 and Olympus/Vivitar 300 f5.6 this week, I hope to carry out a comparison - along with the Zeiss 300 f4, and perhaps both Tamron SP 300 & 350mm lenses. Should be fun.

The RTS II is nice. My favourite of the RTS/FR group. Mine is exc++ to m- in condition and amongst the best bargains I’ve had in the last couple of years. I may get a W-6 to go with it so it sits nicely with my Canon F-1 & Winder FN.

I developed a penchant for Petri SLRs after discovering the amazing Petri Orikkor Kuribayashi 50 f2 lens (grab one if you can find it for a sensible price!). After acquiring a few M42 mount Petri cameras with that lens attached, I thought I'd have a look at some of the bayonet mount cameras. Like Yashica cameras of the era, they are solidly built and well engineered and the glass is good too,
My favourite is the Petri Flex 7 as it looks quite odd with that 'all-seeing-eye' perched above the lens. Check it out...
PetriFlex 7
It's not one you are likely to miss in a crowd!

The Petri 7 looks like a mix of a Contarex "Bulls Eye" and an M42 era Pentacon, and the lens has styling cues from a bunch of the 40's/50's Tessars. Very quirky, and a lot of things to like in one package.

My God! They look almost factory fresh! What cracking finds! My SP wore through to the brass really quickly and eat batteries like a ……. battery eating camera! Loved my OM-1n's though!

These have to be among the strangest looking 35mm SLRs with their Bullseyes but I could never resist an ugly duckling (for British steam enthusiasts, that is why I love the Bulleid Q1!).
2 Cyclops cameras
They're both heavyweights but the Contarex is a hefty 1.2kgs (2.65lbs) and that's without adding the metal lens hood. The Petri is a mere 950g (2lbs) - a positive lightweight by comparison! The Zeiss 50 f2 is a stunner too.
