From 28 February 1962 in the UK weekly magazine Amateur Photographer - Yashica's 8mm camera range...

Apologies for the poor quality of the images but the torn-out page arrived, folded many times, with one of these cameras - and it is a bit faded after 57 years! Paint Shop Pro has helped to clean them up but that's as good as I can get it.

From the UK's Camera Choice magazine in August 1982 - a nice ad for the FX-D.
FX-D ad 1982
Photax, the UK distributor for Yashica and Contax (and Super Paragon lenses) was very active in advertising the marques in the late 1970s and early 1980s. What's unusual is the inclusion of Contax and Zeiss gear - clearly trying to demonstrate that the FX-D is a genuine contender for the more serious, and presumably well-heeled, photographer. Sales for both the Yashica FX-D and Contax 139 were pretty buoyant in the UK during that period. |

I just found this fine advertisement for the FR Series in a May 1979 issue of the UK's weekly magazine Amateur Photographer.  Yashica FR ad 1979 APInteresting to note that they imbue the YASHICA FR Series with ' CONTAX technology' - and quite rightly so. One oddity is the claim of ' Yashica's revolutionary infrared controller...' as shown by the futuristic receiver in the FR1's hot shoe; I have only ever seen them branded CONTAX - has anyone here ever seen one with a Yashica logo? |
