I had an Electro 35 GSN made in Hong Kong that was purchased in 1980. There was no pad problem but there were other serious problems that I began to notice. This year I decided it was worn out, so I sent it, and a replacement candidate, off for one to come back refurbished. I learned to compensate last year for the view and focus problems, so I could use the Yashica rangefinder loaded with Kodak Ektar 100 film for this picture of Richmond Street NW in Grand Rapids. I'll be able to add one more to the count when it arrives. I won an FX-D Quartz this evening, with the ML 2/50.

The FX-D is one of my favorites, a true low-profile camera--inconspicuous, very light and small for an SLR, yet sturdy and reliable. Just needs two cheap alcaline LR44s for the meter. Amongst the cheapest and most underrated SLRs on the second-hand market. The ML 2/50 ought to be a keeper too. Michael

Was pretty sure I'd read some praise of the FX-D of yours. That, and it's relation to the Contax 139 Quartz. I bought it off a charity site, so who knows what kind of condition it will be in. It was in an ERC for the photos, so was hard to tell if the coverings had deteriorated yet. I still haven't gotten around to counting up all the little Yashies, as I've been busy setting up a new computer. Doing that once every ten years is enough for me. PF

I added a TL Super and a J-3 to the stable recently. The Super is jammed, hopefully nothing too serious, but it had a nice chrome-nose DX 50/2 mounted on it, with what I suppose is the original Yashica lens hood for the DX lenses as well. The J-3 is dinged up but functioning, and it has a sad looking Auto Yashinon 5cm/1.8 with a sticky auto-diaphraghm mechanism on it. They are both quite dusty and dirty at the moment.
