I'm sure someone here has memorized the years when Yashica made their manual-focus lens mount changes.
From what I can gather, Yashica came out with its first SLR with a "J"? YP? bayonet mount in 1959.
Then they changed to the 42mm screw mount in either 1962 or 1968?
Then they moved to the C/Y mount in 1974.
Can someone summarize it / correct this?

I'll give you what I have for all types - both manual and AF...
Prior to 1959, everything was either a TLR or fixed lens RF. The first interchangeable lens body was the YE and YF in 1959, with LTM/L39 screw mounts, then the Pentamatic family in 1960 with the first, but very short-lived YP bayonet. 1961 brought the Penta-J with a return to another screw mount in M42, followed by the the FX-1 in '75 with the C/Y bayonet. The next one was the 200/210/230/350 AF series for Yashica auto-focus in '87.
Adding Contax (all, AF) into the mix, there's the G1 G-Mount bayonet from 1993, the 645 medium format bayonet in '97, and the N-Mount series starting in 1999.
The only thing left that was interchangable - but not for still images - would be the 8mm movie camera lenses in D-Mount starting in 1957.

Thanks. That tells me what I need to know:
YP bayonet in 1960 -- NOT 1959. M42 screw in 1961 -- NOT 1962. C/Y in 1975 -- NOT 1974.
And, as I recall, Contax started using the C/Y first -- in 1974.

The FX-1 date I have is June of 1975, with the RTS following about 5 months later in November. As a prototype, it was introduced as an upcoming model at Photokina on September 27th of 1974 (which ran until October 3rd).

It's somewhat surprising to me -- probably not to anyone else in the photographic world -- that the YASHICA YP mount lasted only one year.
There were so many other camera manufacturers -- at that time -- that thought they could create a camera with their own mount -- like Konica.
They made great glass, but just for their cameras. Same with Petri and Miranda, etc. (of course, Petri, Miranda, etc. never made their own glass, but they had their own lens mounts)
Great Stocking Stuffers, however.
