I had previously modified the amount of time available for members to edit or delete any of their own threads, and forgot to post that it had changed. Before the modification, any member could delete or make edits to any of their own previous postings for an indefinite period of time. It has since been changed to a maximum window of 24 hours from the time a posting is originally saved. It seems a reasonable amount of time to allow for modifications or additions. Please let me know your thoughts, if it's either too short or too long
Why the change...?
There have been several instances in the past few months, where member threads have been edited to remove most or all of one or more member's participation in one or several topics. Whatever remains may have no context, and/or no references, missing links or images, etcetera; and leaves something more like a one-sided conversation than a give and take discussion that anyone can follow over time. It's unfair to others who have participated in forum topics - and any other later readers who are interested in those topics - to have a particular member effectively neuter the coversation into disjointed bits of information that are often incomplete, at best.
Anyone can provide corrections or additions within new threads, and if there's a critical reason why something should be removed, edited, or added to the original posting after the 24 hour period, you can always request any of the moderators or myself to edit any post and modify it/them for you when needed. All moderators/staff/owners are exempted by necessity, and aren't affected by the changes.
