OK folks, it's taken a while but finally I have my DS-M trinity of top lenses...
DS-M Premium Trinity
It has taken quite some time to find the DS-M 55 f1.2 at an affordable price but now it can join its premium quality siblings, the 24mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4. All these lenses are a match for their ML cousins but sadly are becoming ever less affordable... It's just nice to hark back to the days when Yashica was a marque to be admired.

biggles3 ... I was tempted to bid, but I'm saving my pennies for an ML. Glad it landed in good hands, though.

Do I detect a bit of yellowing in the 1.2?

Do I detect a bit of yellowing in the 1.2? You do - and it's sitting outside enjoying the sunshine this very moment. That should clear it.

Oh, but the thorium makes it such a classic b&w lens with a built-in contrast filter. PF

Did the sun work? UV is blocked by most optical glass nowadayas and since the 60s.

Is there a list/thread/website/etc. somewhere that summarizes the features/improvements of each of the various Yashica 35mm SLR lens series?

Is there a list/thread/website/etc. somewhere that summarizes the features/improvements of each of the various Yashica 35mm SLR lens series? One of the first pages I went to years ago was Cees DeGroot's old site, but I don't know if it will match the kind of depth you have in mind. Here's the current lenses page , and the general page is up one level. Other than that, there might not be any single source for all the various Yashica lens lines and their variations in one place except for Olypedia's Yashica Lens Pages.
