I was doing a bit of historical research, and stumbled upon this by accident... a rather eye-opening NY Times article on Yashica from November of 1974.

A very interesting article! Firstly, how can two senior people attempt hara kiri and both survive... And also, so much for the so-called expert securities analysts who did not expect Yashica to survive because by the time that piece was published, an agreement between Yashica and Zeiss was already in progress. It had echoes of the more recent $1.7billion Olympus financial scandal in which, again, the top official who was also the whistle-blower was the one who initially suffered.
