This is something I have been curious about for a long time. Not a very interesting shot. Both pictures SOOC jpegs. Zero post processing. Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 @ f/0.95, ISO 200, 1/15 sec Yashica 50mm f/1.4 @ 1.4 and Lens Turbo II, ISO 200, 1/13 sec. Results are very similar. Bokeh looks to be the same. Mitakon is slightly sharper, but you have to really pixel peep. Those not familiar with the Mitakon it's a very sharp lens. The sharpest lens I have. It's sharper than any modern native lenses I have and one of them are known for their sharpness. What's interesting is the exposure. ISO 200 1/15 sec and 1/13 sec which to me is pretty much identical. Mitakon cost be $419 on sale. Retail is $600. B&H is selling it right now for $529. Yashica 50mm 1.4 cost me $60. I bought the lens turbo for $116, but they normally sell for $150. $15 for a c/y to EOS adapter. Cost me $191. Expect to normally pay $225-250

Good example to compare. I see that out-of-focus on the edge of the table is more blurry on Y+T2. This combo comes with the bigger aperture than Mitakon. Could it be a focusing thing ..? I do not have T2 but already a 1.2/1.4 lens is not easy to focus, especially with a camera with a weak focus-peaking. Regards

Bigger Aperture on the 50 1.4? The Mitakon has the bigger aperture. Even a bigger front element. 50/1.4 = 35.71mm vs 35/0.95 = 36.8mm Also, in theory the lens turbo ii makes the 50 f/1.4 a 50 f/1 compared to f/0.95 for the Mitakon.
I think if you see any difference it's because the focal length ends up slightly different. Assuming the Mitakon is perfectly 35mm the lens turbo ii reduces the focal length by 0.73. 50 x 0.73 (focal reducer) = 36.5 x 1.5 (crop factor) = 54.75 (Yashica 35mm equivalent) 35 x 1.5 (crop factor) = 52.5 (Mitakon 35mm equivalent)

The lens seems pretty good. This image is edited of course. It's a handheld shot so higher ISO.
