Yeah, I've only got a couple of zooms I really like, Enrico. 35-105 is my favorite range, but a 28-105 is nice if it doesn't vignette. Been shooting more with primes lately, mainly because of extensive rangefinder use. PF Do you do a certain kind of photography? Like sports or street? I trend to mostly landscape, but will, and have done many other types. But I'll never do another wedding, no matter what they are willing to pay.

why not? It's extremely hard to do them as a one person operation, especially while also working a full time job. And because it made more sense to keep the job that was actually bringing in money.

BTW, I came across my ML 15mm 1:2.8 C that exhibited almost the same problems you had with your lens, Enrico. I could see the places where the barrel of the focus ring had been deformed, and someone had taken a screwdriver to it to loosen it up. It's aperture won't even close down.

Do you think that buying a used one (even if it's working) it's just a matter of time before it'll start to exhibit the same problem?

No, because likely the lens was dropped, which caused some internal damage. That can happen to any lens (I've got a lovely rare old Nikkor 28mm which was ruined that way before I got it). If you start getting the dropsies, then maybe switching to another hobby that doesn't involve handling expensive equipment would be good. So far, I've only dropped one, and I've been photographing for almost 50 years. Luckily, it landed on the sofa.

Just wanted to let anybody with the same problem know what has been my solution, but also thank all the people that helped me in this forum Problem: after shooting, the mirror gets stuck and you need to move the focus ring to make it go back to its position. The situation: in my case the mirror was sticking out almost a cm outside the plastic base to which is glued. Solution: use a source of heat like a hair dryer to raise the temperature of the glue until you can move the mirror. Push it back to its correct position. And there you go! PLEASE don't hit the camera with your hand as suggested in this tread, nor try to open/repair the lens yourself if you don't have any experience, as I did both and ended up with more headaches than necessary

I did that on my Contax 139, and the mirror eventually crept back to the extended position. The only fix may be for me to completely remove the mirror glue, and replace it with a different type.

+1 for mirror slippage. I had two FX-3 Super 2000s and both had that problem. Huh, don't make me nervous ! I do have two, one of working with, and the other one being preserved for the future.

I mean if I can choose the problem that my 40 years old completely manual camera can have (if it has to choose one) I'd definitely go with the mirror slippage. Easy to fix, no particular skill needed. Of course I'd much not have to worry about anything, but if that's the biggest issue, I think we can consider ourselves lucky. I haven't used the meter yet (always used sunny 16 until now) so that may be broken, which I guess is unfixable. That would be a pain more than the mirror slipping down every now and then

I won't call it a fix, since it won't be permanent, but storing the camera lying flat on it's back will allow the mirror to slip back into the correct position and stay there as long as it stays on it's back when not being used. No tools, no teardown, no materials, and no cost. The trick is to get into the habit of remembering to flip them on their backs.

Hi Lumiworx, i've thought about that years ago...what if...this would fix the Issue, at least temporary, to get my RX being useable again. Sad but true, some CONTAX SLRs are suffering from this sliding Mirror Issue...
