Saturday night, I was wandering the streets and avenues of Manhattan with my trusty TL-E loaded with the newly re-issued Kodak P3200TMZ. It feels quite satisfying to use a circa-1970 camera whose shutter is completely operational (although the meter is on its way out, but who needs it? )... it makes me feel like I'm "beating the system." Here's the Atlas Statue at Rockefeller Center: linkAlong E. 43rd Street: link
49th Street: linkThe lens used was a 35mm f/2.8 Auto Chinon. Incidentally, I purchased this camera a few years ago for $5 on the Bay, the seller claiming it didn't focus properly. True enough, I discovered someone had made a hasty repair, very thickly gluing the mirror on its platform, making the mirror rest much higher creating erroneous focusing. I carefully removed the mirror, scraped away the old glue and used a proper spread of epoxy to reattach the mirror. Hours later it was good as new! Now if I could only get the meter working...

Nice work!!
Particularly the grain and the way you positioned the steam on the last of the images.

Yep, that last one is my favorite too. Good job!

Thank you both! I’m inclined to agree, the second was my favorite from the entire outing. And the old TL-E didn’t miss a beat!

That's pretty good looking stuff. Did you need the tripod at any time?

Thank you! No, everything was handheld, I used shutter speeds of either 1/30th or 1/60th sec. and the aperture was centered at f/4, plus or minus one stop. I then processed the film for ISO 6400.
By the way (not that it mattered for this series), I partially solved the meter problem on the TL-E, the batteries weren’t making good contact with the cap inside the battery chamber; a small piece of folded aluminum foil under the battery cap took care of it. I say “partially” though because the bottom arrow for underexposure is burned out. I may just send it to Mark Hama.
Cheers, Allan
