Well I thought I'd start a repair Journal for my 14e. The shutter was stuck and quite gummy, and thats all I've worked on so far, plan on checking out the battery situation tonight. Bought some 675 hearing aid battery's at Jon Goodmans suggestion, as they are close to the original battery voltage, and plan on checking to see if they might work. So here are some pictures of the process so far. All the pictures are taken with my Pentax K-3.......I know digital devilry;P Forget a before picture, so an after will have to do! The lens lockring came free easily with a small screwdriver and a 2oz brass hammer. make sure to loosen in the CCW direction (movement to the left)
Next the front glass came off in the same manner, make sure to loosen in the CCW direction (movement to the left)
Used this lamp oil on the sutter, soaked a qtip a few times in it and let the shutter sit with the oil in/on it for a day Lots of gunk came off, about 35 to 40 qtips worth!
Obviously clean the shutter blades, helps to gently blow on it to get ALL of the oil off after the brown gunk is gone. Then clean the aperture blades really well also! Tape the shutter open;-)
Then clean the glass behind the aperture, there will be oil! An easy way to check is open the film back and look through.
One thing that confused me was this X M switch, what is it?
