Hello everyone! It's been a while since I visited the forum, but in the past weeks I acquired some gorgeous Yashica stuff, and I just wanted to share my happiness I was looking for a 100/3.5 Macro, but prices are getting ridiculous on ebay, so I decided to go with the 55/4. Next step is a Contax / Yashica macro rail, and I'm done (for a few weeks... )

Welcome back!
You have a very clean lens - it looks mint; well done on finding it. I'm not sure if you have the F or F2 Yashica bellows but they're both very reliable and beautifully manufactured. Finding a Focusing Rail is getting expensive but thankfully the Yashica rail is a lot less costly to buy than its identical Contax version. In fact, all you need to do is change the name plate and you can't tell one from the other.
If like me you really enjoy macro photography, I would recommend at some stage upgrading to the Contax Auto Bellows because it has swing & tilt built into it; this allows you to compensate for perspective distortion that otherwise becomes exaggerated when very close to objects - a regular issue for macro work.
In the meantime, you have a great Yashica kit there - enjoy using it.

Hello Biggles! First of all, thank you for your kind words and the information! This is the F2 bellows, and it is a fantastic piece indeed. I am looking at some Contax bellows too, but since I'm not in a hurry, I can take my time and wait for a decent offer The lens is really superb, I am very happy with it. Hopefully I can get myself into some more serious macro photography - I have everything, but time...

I know what you mean about time. I've got some bellows for at least three of my systems, but can't figure out a good time to use them. Almost had a 55/4, but got outbid at the last second, so I've not bothered getting a Yashica bellows. Hope you get lots of use out of yours.

Well, this escalated quickly - I just managed to get my hands on the Contax version So this beauty has to go, I am putting it for sale in the buy/sell section, if anyone is interested. It is in really mint condition. Mentés

Nice one tailor23!
Well done. Hopefully you have the full set which includes both cables and the two adapter rings though if you are using the bellows with a DSLR or mirrorless camera, you don't need the shutter connecting cable. Enjoy getting used to those shift and swing or tilt movements!
Except for the front plate with its movements, if you look closely at the bellows units, you can see that they're made by the same manufacturer; it's crazy how much more you pay for the label! Just compare prices for the Yashica Focusing Rail with the Contax version - they are identically manufactured but they sure don't cost the same!
Please report back to us on how you are getting along with the Contax Bellows...

Thank you biggles3! I am still waiting for it to arrive, with excitement - it should be the full set with all the cables and adapters (just as my Yashica). About the similarity: it is obvious, and quite a bit disappointing, that you have to pay 2-3x the price for the Contax, but hopefully the shift and swing options will be worth the quids I will post some pictures with it as soon as I had enough time to test it.
