Hello everyone This is my first post. I have recently started using an FX-2, and noticed some mechanical problems with it. The first and most glaring problem is that the mirror is askew. When I look through the viewfinder, it is very clearly crooked. Also, the inset that assists in focusing is loose, and I can see a gap on the right side near the exposure needle and on the bottom. The needle is still kind of visible, but is mostly obstructed by the edge of the inset. The second problem is a much more common and well-documented one. At 1/60 shutter speed, the shutter fires but the mirror does not fall back into place, requiring a second firing to drop it. I've heard it happens at other shutter speeds, but I've only noticed it at 1/60th on my unit. I was curious to know if anyone could give me basic instruction on how to adjust the mirror and the inset so I could at least take photos. Also, I was curious if there was a fix for the mirror sticking in place, but that is less crucial because I can just avoid 1/60th. Thanks, Christian.

Welcome to the Forum, Christian. I hope we can walk you through the solution to your FX-2 problems. You may want to read this post about mirror problems, as I think it relates to your situation yashica.boards.net/thread/331/mirror-hitting-lensI believe what you are calling the "inset" is the focusing screen. That's a strange one. Perhaps the camera has been dropped, knocking things out of place. As for the shutter issue, I haven't experienced that with my FX-2's, but then I don't use them very much either. Could be something to do with the levers in the bottom of the camera, maybe one has been displaced, or is bent. Odd that it only does it on one shutter speed though. PF

Hit the bajonet with something heavy... but something that will not damage the bajonet in doing so... Your mirror will pop into place again.
