Hello everyone,
I just received my recently acquired estate bundle of Zeiss, Yashica and Contax gear from 'that auction site' and have been entering their details onto my Excel sheets.
One thing jumped out at me which you may be able to help with: my 3 previous FX-3 Super 2000 bodies had 7 digits, all beginning with 33 or 34. This latest one has a seven digit number starting with 110...., I can't see any differences between the later/higher numbered cameras and the new one with the low number. Anyone else here with FX-3 Super 2000 bodies that don't start with a number 3?
Thanks everybody.

My Super 2000 is 9500296. But I guess that's not what you're looking for. Or maybe it will open up another can of worms?

I have/had two FX-3 Super 2000s in the For Sale listings for some time; sold one, still have one. The SN of the one I sold started with 75; the one I still have starts with 54--both 7 digits. I think it's just a coincidence that your first three started with 33 and 34.

I'll never understand Yashica's numbering conventions - although I suppose it is possible that they made vast numbers of FX-3 Super 2000s...
I wonder if the first digit/two digits is/are a year code as some manufacturers followed that practice....?

My Super 2000 is Japan 7216793. I mentioned also Japan because i don't think all of them they have this mention on it. As i know, an important number of Super 2000 was produced in Hong Kong and i don't think they have "Japan" mention on.

Just to make sure we're all on the same page: There were three versions of the FX-3. The first FX-3 was introduced in 1979 and replaced by the FX-3 Super in 1984. The latter was produced for two years and then itself replaced by the FX-3 Super 2000 in 1986.
The Electro 35 G-GS-GSN series have similarly confusing, seemingly nonsensical numbering over the years.

The numbers do appear to be all over the place; I've just found another FX-3 Super 2000 that I'd failed to enter into my database - its number is 1222*** Totally confusing...perhaps there was no formal numbering system.

I can see where they had a system of whomsoever cameras they were producing at the time got numbers commensurate with overall production, instead of any brand information.
My Super 2000 also says Japan.
