My first Contax lens will be on it's way some time next week. Just won it in auction tonight. I can hardly wait.

Be careful with that, Contax GAS is an expensive affliction!

Uh oh! Be careful, you may be on the start of a slippery slope... Zeiss glass can be highly addictive....

Oh, I don't know. It was kind of spur-of-the-moment as it was just sitting there at an affordable price. If I'd have been outbid, it wouldn't have bothered me. It wasn't a total bargain, but there was another lens in the auction, so I could say I paid less for it, maybe two-thirds the total of the two (except the other was an Albinar zoom). I've seen the Sonnar go for a lot more. But hey, what's the use of having a C/Y system, if there is no C in it? If I see another bargain Zeiss that fits my budget, I might go for it if I don't already have an ML equivalent in the bag.
BTW, I totally missed out on an earlier auction that had two Contax bodies (167 and 139 models), a winder, filters, and some non-Contax items. $36.00! Now that would have been a bargain.

$36!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll bet that was a 'sell to USA only' listing as even with the sky-high postage costs that Ebay/PayPal insist upon these days, the kit would still be good value over here in Europe.
Welcome to the 'C' part of C/Y...next step - 85 1.2 Planar, 200 f2, 300 2.8........

But then usually your stuff gets sent out the most expensive, slowest way possible, and only after they take their five business days to get the package out the door. Dragos is tempting me with that RX. PF

Not to worry adrian2 and barryreid, there's yet another slope to go...
I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm at 46 Zeiss lenses between 15mm-500mm (excluding my Contax 645 gear) after 'er indoors insisted on slimming down.

Since I have only one Zeiss lens (digital), I'm completely induce by this dark hypnotic power It's only the high price between me and other Zeiss lenses.

Finally got the lens in after getting the Post Office to have the carrier do his job. (We've got at least a couple of carriers that don't like to deliver packages). It looks good and clean, just the front cap is broken, so I've got a replacement for that on the way.
Then tonight I was looking at an auction that just wasn't going anywhere, so I bid on it. For $36 delivered by FedEx I'll be getting a ratty looking (needs new coverings) Contax 139 Quartz with data back, winder, and remote cord along with a Deitz 2.8/28mm, Phoenix flash, Sylvania Sun Gun VIII movie light, and a cheap L bracket.
Not as good as the last bunch of Contax stuff I saw go for $36, but not bad. I don't think folks want the cameras, just the Zeiss lenses.

Wow ridgeblue - that is what I call a bargain! $36 including delivery - you'd pay that and more just for the D-6 data back. Nice one!
Not quite in your league but for £165 on Ebay, I picked up a FX-3 Super, Zeiss 28 f2.8, ML 50 f1.7 (aperture stuck), ML 80-200, Contax Auto Bellows + Focusing Rail, 20mm&27mm Contax Extension Tubes, and few other goodies. It was worth the price of admission for the Zeiss wide-angle alone but that Contax Bellows with its swing and tilt is a real bonus and a favourite of mine. I hope they are both as described, in which case I will be a very happy bunny.
Mercifully my acquisition trail is finally coming to a close; I've a chance of getting my hands on the never-released Zeiss 500 5.6 (I saw one at Yashica in Hamburg in the 1980s) and of course, there's that elusive ML 400 5.6...

I watched that FX-3, I'm curious about the bellows - though not curious enough to go past £50... Which I have seen them go for.
I agree about people not wanting the bodies. I always find outfits to be where the best bargains are, for some reason Contax 139s and Canon T70s are amongst the best buys.
My best Contax but was a 139 for about £70 with a planar 1.7 and a couple of other lenses including a Tamron 24-48 which is a terrific little zoom.

You are quite right about outfits offering the best opportunities for a bargain. Sadly, a lot of those outfits that are appearing on Ebay are estate sales featuring Yashica FRs, Contax RTS' and 139s - people of my age dropping off their perches and their grandchildren having little knowledge of film cameras... I've noticed that particularly on the US site.
£50 for the Contax Auto Bellows is a remarkably good price, especially if it has both cables and both adapters. A lot of the units are sold without the Focusing Rail as they were incredibly expensive back then and they tend to sell now for £35-50. The silly thing is that Yashica also made a Focusing Rail for their bellows and a boxed one sells typically for around £16-25 - it is identical to the Contax one in all but the badge and yet they have been hard to sell until very recently when the penny evidently dropped and people are now recognising their worth. There was a Belgian retailer on Ebay last year that was selling a load of NIB Contax and Yashica accessories and lenses (including three Zeiss Sonnar 135 f2.8s) arising from a shop closure - a lot of NIB Yashica Focusing Rails made it to the UK....
