Almost to the day, 3 years ago, I posted a thread showing the Yashica Y16EE, a camera that had a selenium light-meter and used a Minox 16mm film cassette. Today, we can see its progenitor - the original Y16. Yashica Y16 SetThe Y16 is actually a very good camera and the Yashinon 25mm f3.5 lens is a pearl. BUT it had one major drawback which dented its sales - it used a bespoke cartridge to contain the film and advance it to the next frame. Later cameras like the Y16EE and the two Atoron models used the standard Minox 16mm film cartridge which was widely available and sales improved - especially those of the Atorons. Here you can see the contents of the Y16 Set: camera, leather case, clip-on filter set, Y16 Flash Gun (a bulb type) and instruction manual. With bulk 16mm film available again, all these sub-miniature models can enjoy a new lease of life and for the Y16EE and both Atorons, people have even produced 3d-printed replacement cartridges, so get out that old film-changing bag... One word of caution: if you buy a second-hand Y16, do make sure it has the 'Clip-Load Cartridge' inside or it can't be used.

That's a great find -- with lots of nice accessories. The Y16 is definitely a great camera -- great lens and adjustable aperture and shutter speed -- but you are right, the cassette is a drawback. I doubt anyone will ever 3D-print these!!! Anyone interested in reloading the cassettes -- it's not THAT difficult -- can find instructions HERE:
I'll add that if you find one -- don't just make sure it has a cassette. Open up the cassette and make sure it has the small, removable TAKE-UP spool. This slips onto the film advance spindle -- and that's what gets attached to the film. Without it, you'll have to fabricate one -- not impossible, but not easy.

Good advice xkaes ! One problem - for some reason, the link to subclub.org is not working. A similar problem occurred about a month ago and then suddenly it was OK. Very strange - it's a very informative site.
