I just couldn't resist and forked out 89 euros for a near-mint specimen of this far-famed lens, which seemed a decent price to me. Can't wait to get my hands on it... Attachments:

Sometimes temptation is just too much...but it is such a lovely lens and knocks spots off the Zeiss 60 C-Planar. Well done on finding such a beautiful looking example, and at such a fair price - I paid over 60 Euros a year ago for one with a completely wrecked filter ring. Have fun!

Can't wait to see results from that one, Michael. Good find.

My most favorite Yashica ML lens and my first one. The beginning of my Yashica ML collection and the one I use most. No holiday trip without this lens.

superb lens, very clear.
I had read, don't remember where, that the version 55 f4 is better, more clear. it's true?

superb lens, very clear. I had read, don't remember where, that the version 55 f4 is better, more clear. it's true? A few years ago, I compared both with my Canon EOS 50D. I published the result in a german photo-forum, which especially deals with old manual lenses. So I hope it's OK to put the link here (mainly because of the sample photos): www.digicamclub.de/showthread.php?t=14867The result was that there are only minor differences between the 2 macro lenses despite of the different lens designs. Main difference ist the maximum open aperture (f2,8 vs. f4) and the number of blades (ML 2,8/55: 6 blades, ML 4/55: 5 blades). This can be seen in the highlights when stopped down. I also had the impression that the 2,8/55 might be a little (!) bit "warmer" in colour rendering. I prefer the ML 2,8/55mm because of the 2,8 wide open, the 6 blades and it's easier to get.
