Should I get a Zoomate 140 Brava or Yashica 230-AF?

This might be a question similar to... should I buy an Android or iPhone, or drive a car or a truck or a motorcycle?

At the most basic level, the target user for each camera is very different, so perhaps the first questions to answer might be to identify what you want to shoot. The zoomate is a pocketable, compact rangefinder canera that's geared more for quick impromptu snaps, like vacations or events or parties. The 230-AF is a true interchangeable lens SLR camera, that can be adapted to fit a wider array of uses, but is a bit less 'nimble' when it comes to casual and speedy shots.

Both may be 35mm cameras, but that's where the similarity ends. This might be a generalization, but if you only want to document a moment in time and show it to others later, or reminisce your own special occasions or events, where the memory is more important than the quality or composition of the photo... then you might prefer the Zoomate. If you're after good or experimental composition and a creative tool to express some creativity in addition to saving what you see through the lens, the 230 will offer more potential.
