At long last, one of the rarest of Yashica's accessories has arrived - the Yashikor Auxiliary Tele-Wide f5.6 Lens Set for the MG-1. Yashica MG-1 Aux LensesI have been trying to find this for 15 years or more and until last week, with absolutely no luck. I had diligently trawled Japanese camera shops, flea markets and auction sites every month - not a peep. Then while searching for something completely different on the UK eBay site, this set appeared. It's missing the Finder but the one for the Electro 35 set will do nicely so it's not going to be a problem to frame photos correctly. What makes this set so unusual is that it's the only Yashica set which has that window at the top, in addition to being a slip-on fit instead of the more common screw-in. That window is to allow the meter to operate as it's located at 12 o'clock on the lens' bezel. These two lenses are thankfully crystal clear - it will be very interesting to test their quality.

Great find, congratulations!
Out of curiosity, because I was not aware of such an auxiliary lens set, I have checked the camera's user manual, and it is not listed in the "optional accessories" section, not even mentioned.
Do you know if it was released along with the camera, like with the other accessories, or it was at a later point in time?

I'm trying to find out more about the provision of the set by Yashica. I hope to buy a couple of UK photo magazines from mid- to late- 1975 to see if I can find any mention of the set; ideally there may be a review somewhere which includes a reference to them. Looking at Yashica Guy's website, which is where I was alerted to it, he was unaware of its existence until a UK photographer sent him a photo of the kit. That another has surfaced in the UK is a big surprise. The original owners must have found out about them somehow, hence the magazine search... Best of all, I'd love to find a trade price list from Photax, Yashica's UK distributor, for late 1975 or early 1976...

Those little see-through slits in the rear are very strange indeed, and I'm guessing that was a complication in use and maybe even a major headache to engineer them to work correctly.
