It's not possible to have too many Yashinon DS-M lenses and the chance to grab another top quality optic for a pittance was too much to resist... Yashinon DS-M 50 1.4_ Vivitar V3300SEI'm sure the reason it was so cheap was because it was simply advertised as a ' Vivitar 3300SE SLR camera and lens'. The camera has a pretty basic spec which is probably why the ad was ignored. It came with the superb Yashinon DS-M 50mm f1.4 attached via a simple M42-PK Adapter Ring. The Vivitar, despite a modest specification, is actually a pleasure to handle and to do right by the camera, I'll hunt down a Rikenon lens for permanent attachment while the Yashinon is put to more elevated use. I have yet to be able to see any obvious difference in the IQ of DS-M and ML lenses...

Nice find!!... the camera looks like a rebranding / restyling of a Yashica FX-3 body with just a few modifications.

Nice find!!... the camera looks like a rebranding / restyling of a Yashica FX-3 body with just a few modifications. Thanks Ariel Although the body has a number of differences, including a grip, its weight is exactly the same as the FX-3's. It may be that the use of an electronic self-timer instead of a mechanical one reduced the weight of components such that the addition of the grip's mass was nullified. The other major specification difference is the flash-sync being 1/60s instead of the FX-3's 1/125s. The structure of the vertical elements of the shutter are radically different from those of the FX-3 but the overall specification is the same. Although there is no mention of the country of origin stamped in or on the camera, it does bear a gold, JOIF PASSED sticker which states China; possibly another Phenix model...?
