It's been a while but at long last, one of Yashica's early M42 zooms has arrived which has been missing from the line-up: the Auto Yashinon 45-135 f3.5. The build quality is quite superb and this 60-year old two-touch zoom operates as smoothly as it did when first released. The constant f3.5 maximum aperture is great to have available. Auto Yashinon 45-135_AXThis is a heavy piece of glass at 730g but feels nicely balanced with the AX attached; it takes 72mm filters. There is something odd about those data; they are at variance with the Yashica brochures of the day which state the lens weighs 890g and takes 77mm filters. So, whether Yashica made a mistake in its brochures, which has been perpetuated on all lens databases, or there are two versions of the zoom remains to be seen. Does anyone here have the same lens and is prepared to share those two points of data?
