These two beauties arrived yesterday - a Yashica ML 35-70 f3.5 and a Contax RTS with the early style of Data-Back. ML 35-70 and RTSI was very surprised at the winning bid - it only cost me £22 + shipping from Japan (along with a few additional Yashica and Contax goodies). Both camera and lens show signs of wear but I'm not complaining as both function perfectly. To be safe, I'll replace the light-seals and mirror damper in the RTS and I'll find the missing front cap for the zoom. Once again, the IQ of the lens is exemplary and I never tire of using one. Yashica has made some superb zoom lenses over the years but those early lenses, the ML 35-70 f4 & f3.5 and also the ML 28-50 f3.5, are among the finest examples of the lens-makers' art. It goes to show that if you look long and hard, there are still bargains to be found, even among the more 'collectable' items.

Hi Biggles, i have both since decades, your ML 35-70/3.5 sadly looks like a bit being beaten up copy, from the frontring. I'd recommand Revell black enamel paint to cover this up. I've used this for serveral lenses, brands and bodies since decades, and trust me - with a hairline paintbrush and exact black color match, you'd never see which subtle lines have been repainted, afterwards. Yes its into 2022 seldom, and Zeiss Oberkochen created the Contax 35-70/3.4 after this ML...RTS is still here, but i am not a fan of this 1st iteration. Especially the camera leather degrades fastly, was never as good, as into later iterations.
I think for Yashicas sake (and not that you'd push the prices for all of these lenses - remember, the web doesn't forget anything, google finds literally every thread onto this forum here...) it'll being best, to hold the ball flat, no offense. Since 2020, the prices raised more than 300-400% for these lenses, and for real, being middle aged, i have all these Zooms since the 80's and early 90's...
Greetings.
