Firstly, here's a couple of questions. If there were a seller who had a pair of Yashica T4's - A T4 SuperD, and a T4 Zoom - what realistic price would you expect to see as a total for both? Now imagine that you were told that neither camera was tested, and that the seller was not prepared to do any testing for you -AND- the sale was absolutely final, with no returns for any reason. What would your price expectation change to, if it changed at all?
I assume that the 2nd question would have most people rethinking values from their 1st answer. I certainly would drop the price considerably, and I'm not one to follow the frenzy of celebrity endorsed value madness anyway, meaning my first price would be much lower than the usual mega amounts seen for them both as they've been asked and sold for.
This isn't a hypothetical set of questions either, as there's currently an auction going on with these same two models- at ShopGoodwill.com - that still has 3 days and 5 hours to run as I write this. As of this minute, the last bid was $700.00 with 14 different bidders already participating. There's also an old and huge Vivitar 3500 flash included, but it's laughable to think that it fits in with the T4's and doesn't really add any value to the bundle.
Beyond the simple curiosity of it all, I acquired a T4 Zoom last year, that is most definitely non-working, and at $50 it was an extravagant price to pay for it as a simple photo prop, but I wasn't up for paying big money just to get an expensive and working photo model. I assume I'll get my cash outlay back anyway with putting it up for sale as a parts donor or for repair, but I can't see putting an outrageous price on it, no matter what.
I should also mention... the above auction had a starting price of $9.99. :)
