This modest offering from Kyocera is their Finecam L3v. It was sheer luck that one was able to find an unused copy of this camera. Kyocera L3vI was not expecting too much in IQ from the Kyocera 38-115mm f2.8-4.7 (35mm equivalent) zoom but was pleasantly surprised; the 3.2Mp sensor and lens combine to produce images which will happily print to a decent size from its 2048x1536 maximum resolution. Although many people will probably have used the camera in automatic mode, it also features a wide number of manual settings. Its slowest shutter speed is 8s and fastest 1/2000s. The L3v offers a bewildering array of camera modes plus a few movie modes; movies are restricted to a maximum of 320x240 resolution and are no longer than 30 seconds. Its performance has been a most pleasing surprise and it would be interesting to compare it with its sibling, the L4v which, as its name implies, provides a 4Mp sensor. The only irritant, as can be seen on the box art, is the pointless blue light emanating from the clear panel on the front of the body every time you change the function.
