This battery substitution chart is for Yashica and Kyocera cameras, starting from the earliest models. It's posted on YashicaGuys' website, but for easy reference and forum searches, I figured it could use a link here... www.yashica-guy.com/document/yas%20history.pdf

I also get a blank when trying to access any of Yashica Guy's pages.
And sadly, I see one internet search result for Joe Marcel Wolff (alias Yashica Guy) that reports him passing away in 2014.
If it's not true, then I apologise in advance for repeating erroneous news. If it is true, and the web pages have been online until recently, I'm sure we would all be interested to know what has happened to such an incredible resource.
Can any one add any information about Yashica Guy pages and/or Joe?

Hi - I emailed Joe last week about the FX-A and its batteries which were missing from his original list (2x AAA by the way) and received a reply of thanks from Eugene Wolff (yashica_guy@yahoo.com). Sadly, it looks like you are right and Joe may no longer be with us.

Sad news indeed, and it seems that I may have visited and posted the link on the last or next to last day the site was active. There's a contact email address for corrections on the chart copy that I downloaded for myself, under the blueyonder.co.uk domain (I won't post the full email address here). If that matches the address any of you have for Joe, please let me know. I'll send of an email to inquire about posting a copy of the chart, and see what response I get - if any - and I'll post back with any answer I get. Before posting my saved copy as a public resource, I'll hold off until I see what the response will be. The domain name is still under active registration, but the hosted site appears to be unresponsive... so for the time being it is still available from the WayBack archive as: web.archive.org/web/20210422191610/yashica-guy.com/document/yas%20history.pdf

With time comes answers and news... bobblehat is indeed the original author of the battery chart that was provided as a link on yashica-guy.com, and after reading the obituary notice he provided, it seems that Joe Wolff (a.k.a., Yashica Guy) has passed away, and as astounding as it sounds, that apparently happened in 2014. I can only assume that he either made provisions for his site to posthumously remain online up until sometime last week, or that friends or family have supported his wealth of knowledge and kept the site online on his behalf for all these years. The WayBack link to his site will sadly be the last and only version of his postings for posterity, so please do bookmark this link to his archived site via the Web Archive: web.archive.org/web/20210420220924/http://yashica-guy.com/For those who'd like to read his obituary, it's posted here: www.riverreporter.com/stories/joe-marcel-wolff,4715? (please do copy and paste that full link into your browser, if it leads to a blank page when clicked on) After some PM's between us, bobblehat (Bob Letsche) has graciously offered to update his chart with some of it's missing entries, and once completed, it will be uploaded to the forum's file store for later inclusion as a download for members to access. In the meantime, the 2007 version linked earlier can offer the previous version as-needed.

Just a heads up .... I tried Yashica Guy website today and it seems to be back up! I wonder what is going on? It certainly looks like it's back to normal. The expiration of the domain name itself has been extended another year until 1/7/2022, and the whois registry for it was updated today (also, Jan. 7th). It was originally created and registered in 2001, so it's had an impressively long run in terms of web domain name longevity. As a long-time domain owner and self-hosting my own and other's web domains for 25+ years, I can attest to the fact that sometimes unavoidable issues happen and it takes time to get them resolved in order to get a site back online. It's certainly plausible that's happened in this case as well.

I dug up the very first yashica.com web page on battery substitutions, dated to July 11th, 1997... web.archive.org/web/19970711024855/http://www.yashica.com/battery.htmlNote that there are also a lot of production release dates of cameras and bodies (approximated, by year) from every camera type they made prior to '97... well, at least the ones that had internal batteries.
