Hello, new contax owner and I'm pretty excited in using this lovely camera. Though not an immediate problem but the shutter speed dial and the ASA selector or quite stiff in turning. The ASA dial is stiff to pull up to change the ASA.
Returning to the shutter selector dial, it's fairly moveable and free to move but beyond the 200 mark up to AUTO is quite stiff to turn.
Any views on what I can do to free it up little would be appreciated.
Many Thanx in advance
Dean

Check to see if the shutter speed dial is parallel to the top plate. Often they get pushed over if the camera gets dropped or knocked and then the dial binds against the top plate. If it is binding, the rewind shaft bush has been bent and needs replacing. It's not possible to straighten them. The ISO dials are tight usually. But if it's too stiff then the dial needs dismantling and cleaning. Not something I recommend though as it's difficult to get back together if you're unfamiliar with it. There's info that might help on my website www.contax139.co.uk/diyOr you could send it to me to be serviced :-) www.contax-yashica-repairs.co.uk/

Thanx for the reply Peter. It all seems quite straight and doesn't seem to tilt etc when twisting it so i'm guessing its just been left for years without any movement.
Funiily enough I came across your site yesterday while surfing and tbh it could do with a CLA so once crimbo is out the way, itll probably be on its jolly way to you just after :-)
Again, thanx for the advice
All the best
