This popped up by accident in an ebay search, and I missed it on the first auction. When it showed again as a relisted item, I figured now was as good a time as any to grab it. It's approximately 28x8 inches, and 3/4 inch deep. It is 2-sided (same on both sides) and doesn't have any interior lighting of any kind, so it's very basic, but rather large. It came with a chain for hanging it from the 2 hook-loops on the top of the sign, but no other paperwork or anything related to it or the recipient. The seller mentioned it was new, and came with it's original shipping box - so I made sure to ask if he'd pack everything up in another outer box to preserve whatever might be on the old box. I don't know what I was expecting, but there was indeed an original Yashica shippers label, and it was addressed to a residence in Knoxville Tennessee (per Google Streets). On the box's label there are 3 US Yashica addresses that I assume were either distribution warehouses or the offices for regional sales or support teams. They are: 100 Randolph Rd, Somerset NJ - 945B N Edgewood Ave, Wood Dale IL - 344 Mira Loma Ave, Glendale CA. Looking all 3 of them up on Google Street View confirms the California address is a small office, but the others are warehouse/industrial spaces and could have been used for anything. I'm toying with the idea of using some LED strip lights inside of it, but that's a project for another day.

I'd never seen these before I found the auction listing a couple of weeks ago, but it's exactly the same, so two of them show up in quick succession. According to the seller's description, s/he was a Yashica dealer and it once hung in the retail shop before it closed. At least it answers the question of whether they were meant to be trade show items only. It also makes me wonder if there are other types, and maybe even much larger in size. I recall seeing one other one with similar styled lettering that was also lighted on the inside, but it looked too rough in design to be an original offering from Yashica. Maybe it was the real deal and was in horrible rusty shape from neglect or outside storage. EDIT: A quick search on the UK site turned up the other sign I'd seen before, and it does look to be in far better shape, and likely it is an official lighted sign from Yashica. A little high priced for my taste, so I'm happy to have the one I do for considerably less money. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165073361949
