Rodenstock, Schneider, and others made a lot of short focal length enlarging lenses (35mm and lower) with 32.5mm and 25mm rear threads. And the really long focal length enlarging lenses (usually over 135mm) are usually seen with wider rear threads.
Fortunately for me, I have 12.5mm & 25mm bellows lenses, and 21mm, 28mm, 30mm & 35mm enlarging lenses -- but that Tominon 17mm f4 is a beauty, and probably easily adapted.

I just nabbed a Tominon 135mm f4.5 process lens for a great price. It has a 40mm rear thread for a #1 shutter -- or SLR with an adapter. It will fit right in between my Minolta 100mm f4 bellows lens and my 180mm Fujinon A f9.0 -- for large format macro work, and some 35mm as well. It has apertures to f32.

OK, so this is not a Tominon 35mm, it's a Tominon 135mm -- but you won't believe the asking price:
We should all wake up, every morning, to a good laugh!

The Tominon 135mm f4.5 has arrived, and it looks and works great. It covers 4x5" at least, but I have not checked actual the image circle. Since I'll be using it for macro work, I don't care. The flange focal length is bout 120-125mm so it will work fine on many 35mm bellows. It has a 40mm rear thread so it fits perfectly on a #1 shutter. My PRONTOR shutter does not have an aperture (you can get them really cheap), but the lens has f-stops from f4.5 to f32. It has about 14 blades and does a great job of creating a very circular f-stop. The lens has amber and magenta coatings, and since it is a "process" lens, I assume it has 4 (or 5?) elements. Here it is on a Toko Nikki-II. It fits in well between my Minolta 100mm f4 bellows lens (5/4 design) and my 180mm Fujinon A f9.0 (6/4 design) for 35mm and 4x5 work.

Tominon did produce their own adapter ring to allow their M40x0.75 lens(es) to attach to a M42 mount; they're marked thus: 42*1 - 40*0.75 I have one on order.
Where did you find this? I sure could use one, but have had no luck finding one.
I'll add that in my search, I've discovered that there are quite a few lenses that have a rear thread of 40.5mm. I have no idea if these lenses were designed to be attached to a shutter or a camera.
I'm familiar with 40.5mm filters, but not lenses with a rear thread of that size!

I'm afraid they're as rare as those proverbial hens' teeth; I bought it from a private seller in Kyoto who used to run a photo-laboratory. Just lucky with the timing: it was his last piece of equipment and it hadn't sold so he decided to put it onto Rakuten for auction that very day.

I'll continue to look for alternatives and let everyone know if I find something -- and thanks for the Rakuten tip. I've never heard of that.

This the Tomioka 40 x0.75 - M42 adapter ring about which we wrote recently. Tominon 40mm 0.75 - 42mm adapter ringI've attached it to a 75mm f4.5 Tominon and then attached that to a Yashica M42 Bellows for some macro work on a TL Electro to good effect.

Almost exactly the same as my, slightly smaller, 40mm (#1 shutter) to Leica (39mm) -- step-down -- adapter ring.
I've solved my other problem of adapting 40mm lenses to a Leica (39mm) thread by using two adapters:
A Leica (39mm) rear thread to a 42mm front thread (step-up adapter) and a 42mm rear thread to a 40mm front thread (step-down adapter)
That's the exact opposite of what I have, but it's the only way I could figure out!

I just received a Tominon 75mm f4.5-32 process lens from KEH. It's used, but is in mint condition and came with front and rear lens caps. I basically got it for little more than the cost of shipping. They have been having some amazing deals lately -- and they always under-rate their gear.
It has a 40mm rear thread (39mm filter thread in the front), and I'll adapt it to use on my 35mm & digital, and 4x5 cameras.

Here a 40 x0.75 - M42 adapter ring I just ran across on EBAY:
They claim to have sold a LOT of them!

Here's my new Tominon 75mm attached to a bellows. I'm still on the look-out for a Leica 39 to 42mm step-up ring.

I hope you won't mind xkaes ... Since the pic didn't show, I've uploaded a smaller version of it to the forum's gallery and reposted here:
