At long last I manged to find a working Pigeonflex TLR so I can produce this unusual picture which shows the genesis of the Yashica 124G...  Yashica TLR - origin of the speciesAs you can see, we have a Pigeonflex, followed by a YashicaFlex and then the omega of the Yashica TLRs, the lovely 124G. The Pigeonflex uses Tomioka 80mm f3.5 Tri_Lausar lenses for both viewing and taking. There is a missing link: the Yashimaflex which would sit between the Pigeonflex and YashicaFlex but I'm waiting to find a good, working model. If I succeed, I'll re-shoot but for the moment, this is as good as I can manage. I hope you guys like it. |

Interesting, I was not aware of the Pigeonflex, even less its relation with Yashima/Yashica. Very nice trio you have there, I hope you can find the missing link to add it soon.

Trust me; I'm working on it.... I have just reviewed 7,200 Contax items on Japanese websites and am about to do the same for Yashica; it's also good to see that there are a few Yashimaflexes about... |

Only 7200 items?...  I would buy all the TLR cameras out there, not only the Yashica related ones, just for the pleasure of looking at them. I do not know what it is, if the twin lens, the boxed shape, but they just look good. |

Just like the Yashica Rookie in an earlier post, you wait decades and then two turn up: so we now have a brace of Yashima's Pigeonflex cameras.  Brace of Pigeons... The only difference between the two appears to be the finish on the lens covers. One oddity is that the body with the higher serial number has the Tomioka Tri-Lausar lenses with the lowest serial numbers. That suggests that Tomioka had made a large quantity of the lenses prior to Yashima producing the Pigeonflex bodies. |

As promised, here is the group shot which for the first time on the internet (I believe), shows the genesis of the Yashica 124G from its earliest ancestor, the Pigeonflex, followed by the Yashimaflex and then, with the full acquisition of Yashima by Yashica, there came the YashicaFlex and then a long line of Yashicaflex and Yashica TLRs until we arrive at the superb 124G.
