Brethren, I've never been much of an auto focus fan, much less a stickler for those ugly 1980s cameras, but as second-hand Yashica AFs are such cheapos these days, I got interested and I did actually find a couple of favorable reviews such as this one that make the small expense seem worthwhile: www.stevehuffphoto.com/2012/08/07/closing-out-the-summer-with-some-film-and-the-yashica-230af-by-ibraar-hussain/However, knowing that the true Yashicanos are to be found here, I'd like to know if anybody of you can share any first-hand experience with the 230 AF. I'm especially interested in the quality of the AF lenses, of course, and how they compare with, say, the manual-focus ML range. Adrian, I dimly remember that you were using such a camera once, is that correct? Many thanks in advance for any helpful feedback, Michael

Hello Michael,
I've never used the Yashica AF cameras (nor the Contax N series) as I'm not a lover of AF. (Having said that, I'm using a Contax 645 and the hybrid AX...) All I do know is that if you can find the 60mm Macro and 24mm lenses, they're so good it would be definitely worth buying a Yashica AF body (though the only one that seems to garner praise is the 230).
The good news is that adapters exist to use the AF lenses with m4/3 and Sony NEX cameras (and maybe others too) - so it's not a bad time to hunt down the 24, 60 and 28-85 lenses...
Like you, I'd be most interested to hear from someone with experience of the AF range; this is a case of waiting to find the lenses and then buying a camera to fit...
Graham
