I would appreciate everyone's thoughts on whether we should add a category to this Forum for Yashica movie and video cameras.
Yashica made quite a number of film cameras in both 8mm and Super 8mm formats; it also produced a quantity of video cameras. The movie cameras formed a substantial part of the company's business, especially in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Later models like the Yashica Sound 50 XL Macro were highly specified cameras and many of the company's models, especially the Super 8 ones, still have a dedicated following.

Looking at the category list, you're correct that there's nothing fitting for the 8mm gear at all... and there are lots of cartridge and open-roll cameras in the Yashica stable. The Yashica-C and 8-E III models with 3-lens turrets have found their way onto my shelf, along with the Cine Meter. There's also the FineMovie series in Hi-8 from Kyocera, plus several 8mm film editors and projectors that would fall into the same slot. I think some of the existing categories can handle everything else in the way of lenses, accessories, and even repair.

The category is added, however I don't know a lot about the branded gear that will go there. I don't think there was anything from Contax that was primarily a cine/movie product, so it wasn't added as a brand in the description. I'll assume for now that accessory type items and lenses, film/cartridges/tapes, and even repair can be accommodated with the other categories. If anything is missing, it can be added where needed, so if anyone sees a hole, please let me know what might need some attention.

This isn't a note about adding a missing category, but about adding to an existing category.
How about changing the name of the LENSES category from
"Lenses from Yashica, Contax/Zeiss or Kyocera..." to
"Lenses from Yashica, Contax/Zeiss, Kyocera or Tominon..." or "Lenses from Yashica, Contax/Zeiss, Kyocera or Tomioka..."
Just a thought!

Just a thought! As far as I know, Tominon would be a lens family, in the same manner as Yashinon, and they were all made by (or at least, designed by) Tomioka. Putting Tomioka as an added name to a topic description may not be needed if the brand prior to 1968 (when they were acquired) leaves them as a 3rd Party lens... and there's a topic category for that, as it is. Otherwise they'd be considered a division of Yashica after 1968, or Kyocera (eventually separated out as "Kyocera Optec") once they took over in October of 1983. They are still very much a working division of Kyocera to this day, but they no longer make consumer optics... global.kyocera.com/prdct/optec/I doubt if any of us will be yanking posts from one topic and moving them somewhere else because we're sticklers for proper descriptions and placement. :)

Yashica AF System (230/200(Super) AF, Yashica 300 AF etc., and the (few) Lenses from this 1987 System. Sadly, it was 2 years too late, vs. Minolta AF A-Mount, and being incompatible to C/Y...only a "Lens Turbo" with Cropfactor was being avialable, for using the old C/Y Lenses. Same as with the Contax-N System after Contax-Yashica, which became unsuccessful onto the market - only a few, handful of lenses, and the desaster with the worlds #1 "Fullframe" 6 MP DSLR, the mighty Contax N digital, the Philips 6 MP Sensor was being flawed, and it had high noise over base ISO, and the N Digital was delayed, and uber-expensive...when being announced into 2000...then 2002 came Canon with their 1Ds and 11 MP out of nothing, and we all had known how the story ended...
Just my 2 cents.
