Looking at these two cameras, their common lineage is evident but I have no idea which model came first... Auto Focus and Auto Focus MotorAlthough they're fully automatic, both allow a degree of control over AF through the use of the Focus Lock buttons. That 38mm f2.8 lens has a good reputation but I have yet to trouble either camera with some film. AF appears very responsive provided there is good contrast in the image being taken. Although of plastic construction, they feel substantial which inspires a bit of confidence. I do like the fact that the Auto Focus Motor has a film transport indicator on its back-plate.

Given that the Auto Focus is larger -- and lacks a motor -- I'd guess that it is the older of the two.

I have first shown dates as :
Auto Focus 1978 Auto Focus S 1978 Auto Focus Motor 1981 Auto Focus Motor Date 1982 Auto Focus Motor II 1985 AF-M II 1985 (appears to be identical to Auto Focus Motor II)
I think I still have a nice see-through AF Motor somewhere!
