Hi folks,
I just received a vintage Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex TLR which I managed to purchase at a fairly reasonable price.
Lovely camera! Slow shutter speeds turned out to be somewhat too slow, but that's an issue one has to be prepared for with such cameras. Unfortunately though I just found that the shutter refuses to be cocked in "B" and "T" positions, and I'm afraid this might be a serious glitch, one of the sort I might not be able to handle myself. Any idea as to the possible cause of such a problem?
The thing is, I love that camera and am at a loss whether to try to knock off a couple of bucks and try to tinker with the shutter myself or whether it would be wiser to simply return the camera to sender and wait till a better one comes along.

O.M.G., silly me! That was--at least--my third blunder on this forum. Of course, the "B" and "T" settings do not require cocking the shutter at all.
Shame on me...

'Glad to hear it's OK. That was an easy solution. I did not realize that a shutter would be simplified like that. Engineers!

A lot of the older cameras with a T setting had the self-cocking feature on T and B. When T went away, and the shutters became a bit more complex (such as when self timers were added), B then had to be charged just like all the other speeds. So in actuality, you remove the self-cocking feature, and it simplifies the mechanism.
I've got two IIa's, Michael, that someone gave me. Only problem is they are in parts. The one is together, but it's been put back together wrong, the other seems to be missing a couple of items. Maybe some day I'll get really bored, and start working on them.
