I just spotted this rare camera on Ebay being sold by the son of an importer of Yashica cameras to Spain in the 1990s.
He has kindly given permission for us to use his pictures (Thank you JJ) so I have uploaded the main one as I know we have quite a few fans of Yashica's Samurai range of cameras. It's quite a handsome version and I've never seen one or its 1300DC predecessor before.

For anyone interested, it is Item: 264325252547 The fact that it's still working makes it rather tempting, especially as a 1632 x 1232 resolution is more than adequate for web use...and you can still get batteries for it...

Definitely a step up from the 1990 Samurai V-70 which only had a 3X f1.4 zoom and had an accessory cradle to attach the camera to a TV, etc. It was only sold in Japan, but popular at the time. Resolution was 0.3MP. Not as good as the Minolta behemoth of the time, the RD-175 (1.75MP), but at least the Minolta -- despite it's size, weight, and cost -- had interchangeable lenses.
