My pride and joy. The Canon IVF is the rarest of the Canon LTM rangefinders, with a total production run of only about 2000 cameras in 1951 and 1952. The name was changed to IVS for later cameras, probably due to the negative association with the acronym "4F" in the American market, 4F being the military classification under the United States' Selective Service System for candidates found to be unfit for military service. The IVF featured the introduction of the rigid Serenar 50/1.8 as the standard lens, and differed from the IV with different knobs, the new universal thread flange, and a new finder selection lever. The only difference between the IVF and the IVS is that the IVF uses the older multiple piece pressed metal shutter crate, which was changed to single-piece die cast crate in the later version. I was lucky enough to find this example in a local thrift store for $60, lens included. The rangefinder was inoperative, one of the shutter curtains was rotted, and the aperture ring was very hard to turn. But after excellent service and repair by Youxin Ye of YYE Camera, this fine old camera is good to go for another 60 years, much longer than I will be. Untitled by Greyscale3, on Flickr

I did shoot a roll with it before the repair, with the lens set at hyperfocal distance at f8, with some success (aside from the 5 shots that I took of the back of the lens cap, which is a habit that I really need to break): Canon IVF, Kodak BW400CN by Greyscale3, on Flickr Canon IVF, Kodak BW400CN by Greyscale3, on Flickr Canon IVF, Kodak BW400CN by Greyscale3, on Flickr Canon IVF, Kodak BW400CN by Greyscale3, on Flickr Canon IVF, Kodak BW400CN by Greyscale3, on Flickr I expect better results, now that I will be able to focus.

[...](aside from the 5 shots that I took of the back of the lens cap, which is a habit that I really need to break) It keeps happening to me too... Beautiful camera indeed!
