Because everyday we see new start-up's coming with nice and -brand new- ideas, here the Citograph 35 "The world's first, fastest & coolest always-in-focus lens" The lens is currently available on Kickstarter for a pledge of $220. The final retail price is expected to be $550 and the first lenses should ship in March 2018 if all goes according to plan.Oh really?... $550?... nothing more? Here a better and cheaper idea: pay me $300 and I will send you a nice prime lens with the aperture and focusing rings glued and fixed on f/8-infinity, and I will add some homemade blueberry pancakes for free.

I'd take your blueberry pancakes any time, Ariel, but that "Citograph" is truly ... errrm ... decadent ... (unless one interprets the capability to turn sh*t into money as a token of outstanding creativity).
cheers

I have another idea for a start-up: I will combine this Citograph lens with a Diana body and load it with some expired piece of cr*p super nice lomo-effect film or maybe with the so-called "Rollei Vario Chrome" revamp slide film. Selling it for the same price of a Hassy 500 set.

But, to get serious for a second, I fully understand your misgivings about Lomo film - and I would never buy one either - but I'm sure the Lomographers also have their merits in helping analog film to survive. So let's not be too harsh on them even though we may not especially like their results...

"Always in focus", unless you happen to be closer than 3 meters. Then you're on your own. The current generation won't get one because you can't shoot selfies with it.

...but I'm sure the Lomographers also have their merits in helping analog film to survive... True on that, but till what point they are really helping?, you said it yourself, you will not buy or consume anything coming as a consequence of Lomography. Except for the fact that they use film, everything else is playing against what photographers and manufacturers were trying to correct and improve in the last 100 years, quoting one of the Murphy's Laws, for me Lomography means: " Anything that can go wrong will go wrong" but adding: " and we will do it on purpose". I will not discuss the results because is based on one's taste, like with any art form, what for me is garbage for others could be a magnificent expression of art. "Always in focus", unless you happen to be closer than 3 meters. Then you're on your own. The current generation won't get one because you can't shoot selfies with it. PF I couldn't have said it any better.
