Hello everybody! I'm new to this forum, because I just got my Yashicaflex A-II (I believe) camera. I have a question: what cable release would fit this camera? My cable release that I use for my Nikons doesn't fit this Yashicaflex. Thank you for your help!

I'm assuming your Nikons don't include the F or F-2 as they use the same form of cable release. What you need is a Leica/Nikon F adapter - or an original Nikon F shutter release cable. There are lots of the adapters available on websites like eBay and they're not expensive. When you have one, all you have to do is unscrew the ring from the base of the shutter release button, attach the adapter and then your cable release (or complete Nikon cable release). You're then ready to rock 'n roll...

But here is one I found: You see that little indentation on the bottom left of the bottom lens -- that's where the cable release must fit. Nikon's, including F (which I do have) is longer, it doesn't fit that little space. The head of a cable release must be shorter/smaller.

Hello again andreir My apologies. You have a very early version of the A-II as the later ones had the more conventional shutter release button. I was able to use a Zeiss Ikon short cable release that came with a 1927 folder - it has a very short connecting ferrule. Many of the cables made for folding cameras in the 1920-1930s were designed to be able to retract with the shutter/lens assembly and bellows so they were both very flexible and had a very short connector. I would suggest checking eBay under a search reference such as: vintage camera shutter release cable Most common cameras used the same thread, so it should be possible to find a match. Unfortunately, the Yashicaflex/YashicaFlex cables weren't branded, making it very difficult to find the correct original type. If you input: Vintage Screw in cable Shutter release 8cm fits Selfix 820, Multex camera etc into the Ebay search box, that listing will show you the kind of release which should work.
