I just received an old FR-ii and have been working to try and get it fixed up and working again. Got a new battery and electronics seem to be operating fine. The shutter was stuck for a while, but I used a screwdriver and the manual film advance screw in the bottom to somehow get that fixed. Shutter also fires when it’s supposed to. Now, the first shutter curtain coils during film advance, but the second curtain doesn’t follow. It seems like it wants to follow but is not unwinding. Any advice on how to get the second curtain to follow?

Welcome to the Forum cameracameron ! I fear the cause of the original jammed shutter may have damaged the curtains, meaning a complete dismantling of at least the second curtain assembly. You can find Yashica FR/FRI/FRII Assembly/Repair manuals at Contax139.co.uk and the guy that runs the site is a repairer of a number of Contax & Yashica models, not just 139s. Peter might prove your best bet for a lasting repair but the manuals should allow you to have a go yourself. His site has a lot of helpful info...
