I recently acquired a TL electro. I am having a problem where upon pressing the shutter release, the shutter opens but does not close again. The film advance lever works fine and advancing it closes the shutter again. Also during this process, the mirror stays up the entire time. I am able to lower the mirror by hand but it slowly goes back up. Any suggestions?

Hello noahhaeske ... Welcome to the forum! What you describe seems to be an actual repair related issue, and not an operational one, so I've taken the liberty of moving the topic here so that it gets highlighted in the proper context. I have several TL models, but none that match your issue, so I can't offer a surefire fix -but- if using the advance lever after firing a shot completes the shutter closing cycle and also resets the shutter's physical location and arms the shutter to fire again... it seems to have lost it's timing accuracy so far that it has lopped off the end of the sequence. Depending on which TL model you have (i.e., an original TL, TL Super, TL Electro X, or ITS) it might be set by, and/or fixed via, manual mechanical methods or by electronically adjusting timers or voltage/resistance/etc. There is a subforum here under the Repair forum that has several topics containing various repair manual resources. Some offer links to other sites not affiliated with this forum, and some links are served from our own archive. That might get you headed in the right direction if they contain model-specific manuals that pertain to your camera. There may be other members here that have also experienced the same issue and can offer their own insights if you can provide your model's name.
