This is so far out of what I would have expected to be Zeiss Ikon branded, and if it wasn't for the box, I might think it was something used inside the factory that just happened to get stamped by a bored employee on a lunch break. It's so 'unphotographic' in nature, and not an item that ordinarily would be produced as a typical promotion or sales award piece, that it's baffling in what brought it into being.

Early example of an over-engineered focus lock? ..................... I'll try to resist any more comments of this type!

Well, I learned something new yesterday...
Zeiss Ikon patented the profiled double cylinder lock (EURO profile cylinder) in 1928. They operated a security company, making a variety of locks, alongside the photographic company. One lives and learns!
In 1991, Zeiss Ikon finally divided their optics and security technologies into separate companies and IKON AG Präzisionstechnik, the part which manufactured locks and other security devices, was quickly purchased by Finnish company, ABLOY Oy.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I did not know about the history of the company, but I started to get some hints when lots of cylinder locks for doors started to show up in the results when searching for "Zeiss Ikon".
