Hello everyone, right, I have a problem with my Contax 167. When I put new batteries inside the rewind instantly starts winding even when turned off. Other than that its fabulous BUT I obviously can't put film in it.
Would this be a deep internal fix or something a little simpler such as a stuck button or something like that.
Any help and advice would be brilliant as I really like this camera.
Many thanx in advance
Dean :-)

There's a repair manual section or charging the shutter and activating the rewind sequence that are very detailed for each step of the process down to the microsecond level. After a quick read, it looks like there are 3 bits of the camera involved - some of it is mechanical, some electronic (timing setup), and some is electrical (switch relay activations). Grab the manual from this forum post and check pages A-45 to A-49 for info on possible failure points. You might have to do a certain amount of disassembly to see if there are fixable parts or if something just needs cleaning or if it's just a case of debris removal. Other than popping open the case, make sure both the rewind button and lockout slider aren't stuck, and see if there's anything obstructing the sensors in the film compartment.

Interesting. I have exactly the same issue with my Yashica T-Zoom (Kyocera T4-Zoom, T-Zoom) and it's Carl Zeiss 28-70 Lens.
