This version of the Minister III caused a lot of controversy when it was launched as the Yashica M-3; Leica objected, threatened legal action and Yashica reverted to the use of the full Minister name. Yashica M-3As a consequence, not too many of the M-3 branded cameras made it to retailers but there are some out there. It is simply a Minister III in another name. So it features that lovely Yashinon-DX 45mm f2.8 lens with its excellent colour rendition and the bezel houses the circular, light-gathering glass that helps to power the camera's selenium cell light meter. No batteries needed here. This meter is nice and responsive and seems to be spot-on when measured against more modern light-meters. Of course, Yashica later introduced the M5 - a version of the Electro rangefinder - with no objection from Leica. There is a photo of one elsewhere in the Rangefinder Section.
