Sometimes referred to as the Yashica 5-Star, this is the Auto Focus Motor camera introduced by Yashica in the year before their fateful take-over by Kyocera. Yashica Auto Focus MotorThe camera has five modes of automation (hence the 5-Star alternative naming) - film loading, film advance, focusing, exposure and flash exposure. One good thing though is that despite the full automation, you can lock the focus. The lens is Yashica's 38mm f2.8 found on a number of their cameras and is a decent performer although you can expect vignetting from time to time. Contrast is good as is central sharpness. Shutter speeds vary from 1/8-1/500s. It's not a lightweight model at over 360g (12.7oz) without batteries (2 AA) which feels reassuring. I have seen reports that it is very loud; I have to say that mine is no louder than a Contax 137MD when winding. A really nice surprise and bonus is the Yashica 40.5mm 1A filter; I've been looking for one for ages...
