My 2nd CONTAX 167mt arrived today, and i've re-surrected it from the Dead! It's being working again, at least at the Moment. It does seem, these Electronics-heavy (for the 80-90's) CONTAX SLRs do need way much more Attention, than the usual, or mechanical Bodies, or with at least less Electronic Parts inside. (i do know, since the RTS, there is the electro-magnetic Shutter Release, etc...but manual, Film Advance...not Motor-driven. And especially these Motor-powered CONTAX SLR do have Issues, nearly all of them, sooner or later, sad, but true.
To keep it short - A Yashica FX-3 Series, any of them, up to the latest Super 2000 from 1986 is an all-mechanical SLR, i don't like the build quality, i don't like the plastic Body (on metal exoskeleton) but i do like it's reliability. Whereas my RX, ST, 167mt, RTS Series struggles, the FX-3 just clicks happily away, and stays operational. It's battery is only being needed, to power the Lightmeter, but even without it, one can just use the Sunny-16 Rule. Breakpoint on the FX-3 is a weak Film Advance Lever, from it's Design, means it's by no means as precise, as any CONTAX SLR with Film Advance Lever...further, this Lever sometimes get loose, means wobbly, it's a mess, too. Well, that was cheapskate Cosina build Quality.
But Cosina into general can do also very HQ Stuff, for instance, they've built the ZEISS Classical Lenses, which are directly adopted from the C/Y Contax Zeiss Lenses, under QA and License from Zeiss directly.
