Disassembled the lens and recorded the entire process. The thing is, can't fit the two barrels back together. The threads just doesn't fit, no matter how I try. Is there a guide to cleaning/maintence of this lens?

Welcome to the forum rmanakel ... The posted image isn't showing. To use Google Photo's, they need shared links enabled for public posting: support.google.com/photos/answer/6131416?hl=enI also have 2 halves of an ML 55 Macro, and have been looking for details on reassembly, but haven't had any luck on finding assembly charts. Yashica and Contax camera bodies, yes... lenses are not an easy find. It might be possible to figure out how to get things back together (for both of us) if you have a teardown video you'd consider posting online. Their are several members here that do their own minor/major lens repairs that might be able to spot the solution.

Is there a guide to cleaning/maintence of this lens? Welcome to the Forum! Sadly, I'm not aware of any guide specific to that lens. From what you have said, it sounds as if you've stripped it right down to the helicoids which you have separated. If this is the case, you should have placed a mark on each half at the point where they separate in order to make reassembly more straightforward. If you have not done this, I'm afraid trial and error is the only method I know for being able to re-unite the two halves - as you undoubtedly appreciate, if they came apart without fuss, they can be reassembled. There are numerous clips on YouTube of people disassembling lenses to re-grease the helicoids and the same principles apply to your Yashica 55mm Macro. They may help you to spot how to get the two to re-unite as they often look as if they can't fit together - but they will, eventually. It is perfectly possible someone on this Forum has experience of disassembling/reassembling your lens and can provide you with the advice you need but in the meantime, check on YouTube for helicoid re-greasing. And if all else fails, send it to a repairer - it is a very fine lens and should be worth the modest cost. It shouldn't cost too much - you've already done half the job and all they have to do is put it back together again.
