There was a foot switch for the Medical 100DX and the Dental Eye cameras, so I'd guess that's what it might be used for. The gray collared pigtail looks like a conversion cable from the old style push-on triggers, to the newer electronic style with the screw-in lock pin, so it could have updated the switch to work for the first DE model to the later II or III versions. The "mini" labeling is a mystery though. I've never seen an actual OEM foot switch in closeup - only catalog/manual pics. The manual for the Medical 100 has a drawing of one on pg. 9 that looks very similar, but it doesn't specify it by it's model number. EDIT to add: At EUR 139 for that one, I certainly wouldn't be a buyer! I'd much rather pay about 1/10 the price and hack my own from parts... www.ebay.com/itm/254553403464

The foot-switch came in a couple of variations over its long life as a Yashica special accessory. You can see the last version below: Yashica foot-switch FRIt is the Foot-Switch S version, made again by MINI for Yashica but is the updated version of your one which was originally just the Yashica Foot-switch. As lumiworx noted, the one you have shown was the earlier type with a PC-connector designed to work with the Yashica FR series or Contax RTS; the connector on your version was factory modified to accommodate the new screw-in remote S-type connectors used by later cameras. The one shown above has the new S-type connector but came with the short Contax adapter cable to allow it to continue to be used with the FRs and RTS. It was an optional accessory for the Medical/Dental series of cameras but was also included with some versions of the Yashica Copy Table 2.

lumiworx and biggles3, thanks both for such detailed description and information, I am learning something new every day. Now I have another one to add to the list of accessories for the FR series.

Not strictly on-topic but have you included the Reporter Grip in your list of accessories for your Yashica FRs? It's not easy to find but works brilliantly with any FR attached to a Winder.

Do you mean this one?: www.ebay.com/itm/362246406455I have it in my list but it is one of those things left " to buy later" and that moment never came.

That is the very thing, though I think that's quite a high price being asked. What is not obvious from the photos is the extent to which the handle can be rotated which was very useful for press work back in the day - all those 'point-and-hope' overhead shots in crowds... When the little Zeiss 45mm pancake lens appeared, its 'pre-focus and ignore' capability meant that most of those types of shots were in focus. A FR1 with the Zeiss 45mm and Auto Winder was a lovely combination for street photography in the 1980s (though sometimes the sound of the winder could draw attention to you) and the Reporter Grip made operation very easy, even when wearing gloves.
