I've only ever worked on he 'G'. I've had a few of them. But I've also worked on lots of Yashica Electros. But the way the two work is entirely different. Maybe the 'E' is different but if it uses the combined shutter/aperture then I would think it's like the 'G'. But there may be other Yashica's that use the same method as the Minoltas that I'm not familiar with.

I once repaired a Minolta Hi-Matic E that had been through some really rough times. flic.kr/s/aHsjPnWpT5 For some reason I don't seem to have taken any test shots with it. Reading my notes the indicator lights didn't work, so I probably boxed it up with other "non-functioning" cameras, though the shutter did seem to be working at proper speeds. PF
